Gold Johnsons

Check this out… the vending machine at work can take $5 bills, and it gives dollar coins as change. These gold, Andrew Johnson $1 coins. Did you know we had these?
Much like the newly designed penny, I detest these. Not the actual coins; they’re pretty sharp, objectively. What makes me wonder is why we’re spending money on these in the first place. Did we need a prettier penny? What was wrong with the old ones? Are they trying to get us to like pennies? Why?
I dunno. It probably took a million or two (or twenty) to set up these redesigns; it just seems like that kind of money could be better spent. Kinda like that scene in “Dave”, it just seems sad that we’re cutting services and education money so that people can have a prettier penny. Or dollar.

One thing I’ve done for the past few years is… well, a few years back, on Flickr, it was all the rage to do a “Project 365″, wherein you’d take a picture of yourself every day for a year. I decided to put a twist on it – take a picture of my pal Domo every day. I kept up with it for a while, then kinda fell off the wagon. For the past three years, I’ve been updating it on and off, but now I’m so close to done, I’m just gonna keep going, and then maybe when I’m done, I’ll start a fresh one (and really try to keep up with the posting one per day). If you want to check on my progress, or hey, if you’ve got a few minutes to kill, I invite you to check out what I’ve got so far: Domo 365.
Back again.

OK, so this will be yet another attempt at blogging. I’m really hoping it’ll “stick” this time. I found it kinda cathartic. I need a release. And I need one that isn’t Twitter, or Facebook, or Google+. Sure, I’ll use those other things; fine. But, if you know any
thing about me, I’m definitely old school. I like the idea of blogging, and not just posting a status update.
So, thanks for coming back. Or, if you’ve never heard of me before, thanks for showing up.
Hello world!

I’ve heard tell of this new thing called “blogging” and I thought I’d give it a try!
