Play it now

Reason #454 Why I love the internet:
OK, so for like, two days, I’ve had a Neil Diamond song stuck in my head… only knew three words, and the general melody, but still, stuck in my head (isn’t that particularly agonizing, by the way?).
So tonight, we (Joelle and me) were watching TV, and things came to a boil. I just couldn’t take not knowing the name of the song anymore… so we bust out our iPhones. I google, “play it now”, she pulls up her spotify, getting the Neil Diamond collection at the ready. I find the lyrics, which gives me the song title, and a few seconds later, we’re listening to “Cracklin’ Rose”.
Ah, I love that song. Even though I still don’t know any of the words besides play it now. Something about a guitar humming, maybe.
But, I digress…
So, yeah, something that may have tormented me for days, now solved in a matter of minutes. Thank you, technology.

That last post was probably TMI, I know… I’m sorry. But it was too long to tweet, and I sure as hell wasn’t gonna post it on Facebook. I guess I could have posted on Google+, but I wanted at least one person to read it…
Anyway, so I’m still trying to figure out what I want my blog to be… most bloggers nowadays blog about something… you know, like, a sports blogger. Or a game blogger. Or a mommy blogger. But I’m not any of that. I don’t want to be any of that.
I don’t want to have to write “articles”, either. I’m ok with structured writing for a while, but once the article starts getting long, I get lazy and start writing more “stream of consciousness”. Kinda like now.
But I prefer that. I don’t want this blog to be “about” anything. It will just “be”. And I’m not writing this for my “readers”; it’s for my friends, and whatever strangers happen to stumble upon this place.
OK, so speaking of stream of consciousness…
Just a (not so) random thought… one of the jokes between Joelle and me is what’s known as a “Chicago ending.” It refers to something that doesn’t know how to end, or takes forever to end. (think about every Chicago song you’ve ever heard… the ending is always clumsy, right? just like when you have a conversation with someone and neither person knows how to say “OK, see ya!”)
So now you’re in on one of our little inside jokes.

Move out

It’s bad enough I’m checking Facebook while in a bathroom stall… but now, the guy in the stall next me is humming along and drumming the wall. I know “Move out” by Yaz is a good song, but settle down, dude! Some of us are trying to shit (and surf) here!
Should be a rule

Here’s an oldie, but needs to be repeated: people who don’t believe in science don’t get to benefit from science. Example: you don’t believe in evolution? Fine. You get to take vaccines from the 1900′s. If there’s no evolution, then bacteria/viruses can’t evolve and become resistant to antibiotics, right? You should be fine with the old stuff. Good luck with that.
On a related note, I also believe it’s bullshit when someone goes on their Facebook or Twitter to talk smack about science. Listen, fools… it’s fine that you don’t believe in science. Really. But you don’t get to use stuff that was discovered by science anymore. No more driving. No TV. And especially, no more Internet. Until you show me in the Bible where it explains how to log into Twitter, you just don’t get to use it. Conversely, I (science believer) will not use products developed exclusively by religion. I guess that rules out going to church, and maybe some holy water.
Sad but true

I’m wondering… is it totally lame that I’m trying to work in posting to Google Plus regularly, just so I’m ready in case it ever gets better than Facebook?
