Things like this always amaze me:
An East Texas college student finally learned why she'd gained weight and was having abdominal pain — she was about to give birth. [full story]
I know it's possible, but it just seems so... improbable. How do you
not know that you're pregnant? I dunno. I guess it's as bad as those dudes who get married and, ten years later, find out that their wife is a cross dressing man. I don't know how they're able to pull off that ruse without a special effects crew.
But hey. Keep your eyes open for this girl... she'll no doubt be on
The Maury Povich Show in a few months, trying to figure out who the daddy is.

Justin and I were watching one of those hospital emergency shows and a woman came in with "extreme abdominal pain". She thought it was her appendix, but ended up having a baby.
It turns out that she was on birth control (depo shot, I think) so the thought of pregnancy never crossed her mind. Plus, she was a large woman to begin with, so maybe that made not noticing easier.

My daughter's room mate in college just found out that she was 7 mo pregnant. She had odd periods and had had spotting so hadn't worried (altho idiotically she doesn't use b/c). She felt the baby move and it freaked her out, went to the doctor and was told she was 7 mo pregnant. Now I had seen her myself 1 week before that and she did not look pregnant...just like she had gained a bit of weight all over. If I hadn't seen her so recently I wouldn't have believed the story either. Just naive I suppose.

Wow. I guess I'm naïve; I didn't realize that it was easier to get unwittingly pregnant than I thought.
Gee, maybe if there was more sex education in school, people would be more prepared for the consequences of sex? Nah. Blame it on rap music.

I blame 99.99% of society's woes on rap music

I can't imagine, personally. (Although when I tried to click the link I was taken to your front page. Heh.) I was late in finding out I was pg with the first one, but I was in a heavy state of denial. Even when I *did* find out at about 12 weeks, it only was a few weeks before there was undeniable evidence of pregnancy.

The funny thing about that girl is that she ALREADY had a kid. You think you'd realize what pregnant was after already having gone through it!

this may be TMI but my periods have always been unbelievably irregular, so being pregnant and not knowing about it is a bit of a concern when i'm sexually active. i take steps against that of course, pills, condoms etc but as we all know, nothing is 100% sure. still though, i would like to think i'd catch a clue before the kid was halfway out! that's just all shades of wrong.

I love when Maury has those shows. And I am always amazed when they have a girl who had at least 4 or 5 guys tested and they are all "not the father." There is a relatively small time frame for conception to occur, so she would have had to fucked more than 4 different guys within a weeks time. What a ho. And what especially makes me laugh is when she INSISTS that there was no one else, just "sperm donor #1" and when the test says no, she goes on to guy #2 and says, "ok, but there was really no one else."
I know I shouldn't be amused by this...it really is tragic that the girl obviously has such low self esteem that she needs to sleep around like that, and baby doesn't have a daddy, but maybe she should be working on her morals and self esteem first so she can be a better role model for baby.
I am not saying she should have been a virgin before she conceived baby, but to be a Sealy Super Pedic test pilot really doesnt look good on a resume.

Mikey,
It was a year ago this month that my younger sister had a baby 4 weeks after finding out she was pregnant. She wasn't showing at all, was having spotty periods, and was insistant that she hadn't been with anyone so how could she be pregnant. We were later able to piece together that she had been drugged and raped.
Sadly, it happens.

I used to work with this woman that was severely overweight and it was pretty much the same story, going into the hospital for abdominal pains and coming out with a kid.
But, dude, it's East Texas. Having lived there for 2 1/2 years and run screaming from it, I wouldn't give it a second thought that someone was that ignorant. It's the lack of quality education. And idiot parenting.
